Getting Fitted
Date:
2008-10-17
It has come to my reluctant attention that it's the end of the line for the beast in my basement: the furnace. The previous owners removed the installation tags so potential buyers wouldn't know when it was installed. They missed one tag though. It shows it was serviced in 1988. Since furnaces last 10 to 15 years, its retirement is long overdue. And it's clear now why I got so sick last winter. There's a nasty cocktail of mould in the humidifier. So this Monday, it's out with the mould and in with the new. Before I go to work today, the installers are stopping by for a quick look around and to take some measurements to make the installation go smoothly. This winter we plan to be warm, cosy and healthy. Saving money with a high-efficiency furnace and programmable thermostat is just a bonus.
