Tragic Waste (of News)

At the risk of seeming completely heartless, I’m going to ask something that no one else will: Why all this fuss about Brandon Crisp? Let’s recap: Kid spends too much time playing X-Box computer games. Parents take away X-Box. Kid throws a snit-fit and says he’s running away. Father helps him pack. Off the kid goes and immediately vanishes into thin air. 3 weeks later, they find the kid’s body in a cornfield. (Foul play is NOT suspected.) It’s a bummer but the take-away is pretty clear: Teenager acts like spoiled toddler & his parents won’t be up for any awards. This should be the end of the story - but no. We’re getting constant news updates and in-depth interviews with classmates, teachers and distant relatives. Let’s move on! There are far more important stories (and people) to cover. I only hope that this item serves to teach other parents that instead of giving your kid everything their precious heart desires, maybe you should teach them about respect, responsibilities and the concept of "repercussions".
