Friday night, Jasper and I are attending the great "Howl-een" party at Petopia. We went the first year it was held and we had a blast. Jasper spent the evening wrestling with a pug in judo whites. It was hilarious. They didn't hold this party last year for some reason but this year it's back. And we'll be back too. Details after...

Well, not the triumphant return to Petopia I had hoped. Jasper went to school there every Saturday for months. Last night he didn't know the place. We got there right on time but there was a crowded and chaotic line-up to get in. While waiting in the narrow hallway, Jasper got spooked by a barky German shepherd in front of us. That set the tone for the evening. The place was noisy and packed. There had to be 40 dogs in each of the two pens. A gang of slobbery great danes prowled around sniffing at belt-level. The staff seemed overwhelmed. They couldn't keep up with the mopping. Jasper couldn't take it. He started to bark. And bark. I gave him a couple of time-outs and a good drink, but he was over-stimulated. After an hour, it was obvious he wasn't going to settle down and play so we slung away into the night. Good thing too. As we were leaving, 3 huskies, a chihuahua (in a Superman outfit) and 4 more great danes were just going in.
