Beany & Cecil Sail Again

A few years ago, when I was on a business trip in the States, I couldn't sleep so I started watching TV. I flipped around until I spotted a cartoon I hadn't seen in decades: Beany & Cecil. I was totally enchanted and vowed to get my hands on a DVD. Well, last week it came true with the arrival of TWO Beany & Cecil Special Editions. Wow. There are all kinds of interviews, behind the scenes stuff, and of course plenty of cartoons. What stikes me about the shows now is they are for TWO distinct audiences. When I was a kid, I loved the characters. Now, I love the inside humour. It's a glimpse back at the time of beatniks, jazz and The Rat Pack. Definitely worth rediscovering.
