TLC - Not For Me Date: 2010-11-07

In the universe of today's television channels, there are plenty that don't interest me. Few networks however, take such a hard turn that I eliminate them from my options. As of now, TLC (The LEARNING Channel) is gone. I used to enjoy their how-to shows like "Hometime", but I guess with all the other how-to channels out there, TLC has decided to go in a different direction. I suggest they start calling it The LEERING Channel. Let's consider the latest offerings: "Sarah Palin's Alaska". (Talk about taking ownership.) This is the last woman who should be given a "reality" show. (She spends NO time there.) I can't even sit through the promos. Her voice is like sandpaper on bagpipes. Its irritation factor is eclipsed only by her stupidity. "This is flippin' FUN!" (I'm sure 9 out of 10 rednecks will agree.) Another reason I don't watch TLC is "19 Kids and Counting". What's with all these people having litters - then doing a reality show about it? I guess TLC exec's think their viewers don't have enough noise and chaos in their lives. As for me, I can't imagine a worse way to spend an hour. And I wonder what being in these intrusive shows ultimately do to the kids involved. Apparently it's not so good for marriages. Whatever. TLC is off my radar (and big screen) from now on.
