I'm starting to cook again! For three years, I've avoided the stove in favour of the microwave or fridge. But recently, I bought a pro-level saute pan - something I've always wanted. That got the wheels turning and I decided to try making a stew. On Friday, I picked up a slab of sirloin and an assortment of vegetables. After browning the beef, I tossed it into the slow cooker with the veggies, soup stock and red wine. I put the lid on and set it on low. Seven hours later, the house was filled with an intoxicating aroma but I didn't eat any then. I saved it for Saturday night's dinner...and what a feast! It was so good, it shocked me. I think I'll be doing a lot more cooking from now on.
