A Face in the Crowd
Date:

If you only picture Andy Griffith as a good ol' southern sherriff, here's a movie to explore: "A Face in the Crowd" (1957). It's a loner's dark, fascinating journey from an Arkansas prison cell to the height of popularity. Griffith is charming, funny and at times, very disturbing. Sadly, it's a performance The Academy overlooked. If Griffith had been nominated, he probably would have won. (It's an astonishing piece of work.) And maybe more people would be aware of this undiscovered gem.
