Changing Times (and Hard Drives)
Date:
2011-08-04
My very first audio computer cost $10,000 in 1994. It came with a big, ugly external hard drive that held a whopping ONE gig of storage. At the conclusion of each session, I had to dump the hard drive onto a floppy disk. Or five.
My current computer cost about $800 and it came with a 120-gig hard drive. Trouble is, it's already full. Working with audio, video and photos, you need a lot of storage. With the Cdn dollar doing so well, it was easy to find a deal on e-bay. I bought a sleek little 2 Terabyte external hard drive - that's two thousand gigs of storage, for just over $100. I'm reasonably confident that I won't fill this one up anytime soon...
