Behind The Scenes

There's more to teaching than standing in front of a class. Last Thursday was the deadline for the final assignment. I spent all day Friday (6:30a - 4:45p) marking papers. Some were terrific. Some weren't. As a bonus, I devoted yesterday (8:30a - 3:30p) to recording video feedback sessions for each student. So, besides getting their marked assignments back (covered in my scribbles), they'll also get a DVD. On it, I go through their work, page by page, and make suggestions on how to make their writing more effective. Sadly, I won't get paid for any of this extra work (or expense) as I chose to do it. But I suspect that when it's all over, what the students get out of the feedback will be well worth my efforts.
