When was the last time you heard a GOOD song by Elton John? Chances are, the last EJ song you heard was no older than his bloated 80's period. But in his serious, pre-flamboyant days, Elton John and Bernie Taupin crafted some magnificent tunes. "Your Song"; "Daniel"; even as late as "Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Me" - all are great works. I wish music directors would explore this period more fully rather than just throwing in "I'm Still Standing", a song that, considering his earlier work, is just sad.
