Green Thumb, Sore Feet

The long weekend was a mad push to get a carload of new perrenials into the ground. But before we could even do that, the yard needed lots of attention. Collecting a long winter's debris was just the beginning. We had to go right down to the roots to get rid of a lot of weeds and even more rogue mint. Several wheel-barrows of earth were moved from one side to the other. Numerous wheel-barrows of gravel were moved around too. Then, we were ready to plant. (Here's a tip: go to the garden centre just as it's opening. That's what we did and we were in and out in minutes. We went by later in the day and it was so busy, cops were directing a long line of traffic trying to get into the parking lot.) By last night, all plants were tucked in and watered. The yard is cleaned up and it's all starting to look like "ours". Sure, there are always more jobs on the horizon, but for now we're happy with the progress and can take a break from the big jobs. Now, we have to deal with a pool company that keeps standing us up.
