Picking Safe Over Cheap

I had Joe from Solutions Electrical over to the new house yesterday. Before I do anything I want to make absolutely sure it's electrically safe. As I suspected, it isn't. Not even close. It's a similar situation to the old house - lots of improper work, undersized panel, reversed wires, ungrounded circuits - the kind of things that can easily cause a fire. The first thing they need to do is go over the entire house and check every single line. Until they do that, I won't know what all this will cost. It could even come down to needing every single line in the house restrung to every single outlet and light fixture! (I shudder to think...) As it is, the BEST possible scenario I can hope for is it only costing $1,900 + tax. But after that, I know we'll at least be SAFE.
