| Tribute Project: David Gilmour's Black Strat. I built this project in the early 90's - long before info about the original guitar was readily available. Here's what I did: I started with a Squire body and began collecting parts over the next several years. When I first put it together, I copied his set-up exactly as it was for 1977's In The Flesh tour. Then, it had a rosewood neck and black bridge pick-up cover. Now it looks more like his current set-up. I added the extra "Bridge On" toggle switch for a total of 7 pick-up combinations. The bridge pick-up is a 1975 DiMarzio FS-1 - exactly like his during the 70's. It's a great blues pick-up so, while he has since changed his to a Seymour Duncan, I'm keeping mine as-is. I also added copper tape shielding and direct grounding to make this Strat as noise-free as possible. |
